The Congolese Head of State, Felix Tshesekedi, arrived in Goma in the afternoon of Monday, October 5. He came to assess the security situation in this region of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). <\/strong><\/p>\n

President F\u00e9lix Tshisekedi was welcomed by a jubilant population. An important mobilization of the population undertaken by the local authorities has borne fruit.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, F\u00e9lix has made the fight against armed groups in this region of Kivu a priority for him.<\/p>\n

For three days, he will have time to discuss with local leaders and civil society personalities.<\/p>\n

The mini-summit in Goma may be organized remotely on this occasion. The Heads of State of the Great Lakes region, while recognizing the need for this meeting, did not consider it appropriate to make the trip to Goma. The reasons officially put forward were covid-19, security reasons and a busy schedule.<\/p>\n
