Agathe Habyarimana Kanziga was summoned this Tuesday, November 3 in Paris by an examining magistrate. She has to answer questions in the context of the investigation into the role played by Captain Paul Barril during the 1994 genocide against Tutsi. <\/strong><\/p>\n

After the arrest of F\u00e9licien Kabuga, already transferred to the Residual Mechanism of the Criminal Courts in The Hague, French justice this time turns to Agathe Habyarimana Kanziga. She is to be questioned as part of the investigation launched into the role of Captain Paul Barril during the genocide against the Tutsi.<\/p>\n

Agathe Kanziga is to answer on her links with former policeman Barril under the presidency of Fran\u00e7ois Mitterrand.<\/p>\n

The Survie association and the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) have lodged complaints against this former French gendarmerie officer.<\/p>\n

He is suspected of having signed an arms purchase contract worth 3 million dollars with the Interim Government of Rwanda (GIR) in the middle of the genocide, thus violating the international embargo imposed by the United Nations.<\/p>\n

Captain Paul Barril had relations with the Habyarimana family during the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi.<\/p>\n

Agathe Kanziga was a member of the Akazu, a small group that took the major decisions under the regime of President Juvenal Habyarimana.<\/p>\n

She remains in France without refugee status because of suspicions about her role in the genocide against the Tutsi.<\/p>\n
