Donald Trump has decided to stop all funding to the WHO. He accuses that organization of mismanaging the covid-19 pandemic.<\/strong><\/p>\n

U.S. President Donald Trump has just cut U.S. funding to the World Health Organization (WHO) in the midst of a covid-19 health crisis.<\/p>\n

He criticized the UN agency for aligning itself with China’s positions.\u00a0 The American president accuses China of having concealed the seriousness of the virus in December. According to him, this behaviour prevented the epidemic from being contained “at its source with very few deaths. \u00bb<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, this decision does not improve the situation. The United States is the largest donor to the WHO with more than $400 million a year.<\/p>\n

“WHO is on the front lines of this pandemic, providing life-saving advice, training and equipment that is essential to saving lives – including those of Americans. “Hilary Clinton responded.\u00a0 “Cutting their funding is not only dangerous, but Trump does not have the authority to do so. ” She said.<\/p>\n

The UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, had warned the American Head of State that the time was not right to take such a decision.\u00a0 “This is not the time to reduce funding for the operations of the World Health Organization or any other humanitarian institution fighting the virus. This is not the time to cut funding to the World Health Organization or any other humanitarian agency fighting the virus,” he said. “My belief is that the World Health Organization must be supported because it is absolutely essential to the world’s efforts to win the war against Covid-19,” he added.<\/p>\n

Thousands of people die every day around the world, including in the United States.<\/p>\n
