Robert Nesta Marley, known as Bob Marley, died on 11 May 1981 at the age of 36. 39 years after his death, he remains in the memory of those who knew him.
Of Jamaican nationality, Bob Marley was a Jamaican singer, composer and musician. He began his professional musical career in 1963, after forming Bob Marley and the Wailers. The band released its first studio album, The Wailing Wailers, in 1965, which contained “One Love/People Get Ready. »
This song was popular all over the world and made the band a rising figure in reggae. The Wailers went on to release eleven more studio albums. Some of the songs from these albums have been highly acclaimed such as Redemption song, Is this love, Stir it Up, Three Little Birds Dub, Roots Rock Reggae and Get Up Stand Up Bob Marley. They made Bob Marley a legend until today 39 years after his death.
Considered one of the pioneers of reggae, his musical career was marked by the fusion of elements of reggae, ska and rocksteady. Marley’s contributions to music have increased the visibility of Jamaican music around the world. They have made him a global figure in popular culture for more than a decade.
Throughout his career, Marley became known as an icon of Rastafarianism. He infused his music with a sense of spirituality. He is considered a global symbol of Jamaican music, culture and identity. He also advocated pan-Africanism.
Upon his death, his fans around the world expressed their grief, and he was given a state funeral in Jamaica.
