British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who was hospitalized on Sunday for medical tests, was reportedly treated with oxygen. But he is said to have had “a comfortable night.”
Boris Johnson is still in the hospital suffering from coronavirus. He had a “comfortable night,” but number 10 no longer describes his coronavirus symptoms as mild. He doesn’t deny he had oxygen. Number 10 Down Street is the official residence and workplace of the British Prime Minister.
As the Prime Minister continues to be watched by doctors, Downing Street is being cautious and says it is too early to say whether he will stay another night in hospital.
The Prime Minister’s official spokesman says Boris Johnson is in St Thomas Hospital in South London. He is in “good spirits” and continues to work on his red box of government documents.
Asked about Johnson’s pneumonia, the spokesman said that any change in his condition will be communicated to the public. He still has a cough and a temperature, more than 11 days after reporting his first symptoms.
Two Conservative ministers – Nadine Dorries and James Duddridge – suggested that Johnson get some rest.
However, number 10 replies that he is taking advice from his doctors as to whether he can continue to work.
Earlier, Robert Jenrick, the secretary for communities, had insisted that Johnson was fit enough to run the country from his hospital bed after being admitted with persistent coronavirus symptoms.
If his condition worsens, Dominic Raab, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and First Secretary of State, is the minister designated to take over. Mr. Raab chaired a meeting Monday morning of the government’s C-19 committee, which is leading the response to the pandemic. However, Tuesday’s cabinet meeting was cancelled.
