Vincent Duclert handed over to the Head of State, Paul Kagame, the report of the research commission on the French archives relating to Rwanda and the genocide against the Tutsi on Friday 9 April.
Vincent Duclert, chairman of the research commission on the French archives relating to Rwanda and the genocide against the Tutsi, handed over to the President of the Republic, Paul Kagame, the report of the commission he chaired on the role played by France in Rwanda in 1990-1994.
It is already known that it was welcomed by the Head of State. “We welcome this report which marks an important step towards a common understanding of what happened,” he said on 7 April. “It also marks a change and shows the desire, even for French leaders, to move forward with a good understanding of the past, and we welcome that,” he added.

“The conclusions we have in our hands are based on the work done by people who were asked to do it in parallel to what was being done in France. These conclusions are in the same direction,” President Paul Kagame revealed.
As announced by President Kagame, Rwanda will have its say on the report. Rwanda is expected to do so in the third week of this month. Probably before the visit of President Emmanuel Macron to Rwanda.
The report was submitted to President Emmanuel Macron on 26 March.
