The Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation in charge of the East African Community was dismissed from his post on 09 April 2020. He is accused of favouring his personal opinions to the detriment of the government line.
A press release signed by the Prime Minister, Dr Edouard Ngirente, announces the departure of Ambassador Olivier Nduhungirehe. He has been dismissed from his post since April 9, 2020.
He is accused of regularly favouring his personal opinions over the government line. He was very active on social media, in this case on twitter. The last message he posted before he was fired was dated 7 April, the start of the commemoration of the 1994 Tutsi genocide.
“Today April 7 is the day opposition politicians were murdered, most of them with their families. Some of us knew them personally and grew up with their children. Today is absolutely the day to remember them. “He said.
“Memory is precisely about personal circumstances and collective memory is an addition of individual memories. “He added. He was reacting to the words of a man named Rugira. The latter had just written that “personal circumstances cannot be used to undermine collective memory. “24 hours later, Olivier Nduhungirehe was fired.
The former Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation in charge of the East African Community, served the Rwandan government as Ambassador in Brussels for two years.
First Counsellor of the Embassy of Rwanda in Addis Ababa (2007-2010) and in New York until 2015. He was then appointed Director General at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in charge of international organizations before being promoted to Rwanda’s Ambassador to Belgium.
The man, who sometimes tweets too much, reacted quickly to the Head of State’s decision by saying he was ready to take up another post.
“I am grateful to H.E. Paul Kagame for the trust placed in me over the past two and a half years, when I had the privilege of serving as Secretary of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation in charge of the East African Community. I pledge to continue serving my country and the Government of Rwanda in another capacity.”
