Rwanda is preparing to organize a Comics Festival. Mountain creative has just launched an online school to train artist-exhibitors.
Assoumani Ndarama, managing director of Mountain creative, explains that Rwanda has several artists producing cartoons and comics but without the know-how to produce the desired quality products.
“I found that there are many artists but with many gaps at the professional level,” says Assoumani Ndarama, a member of the Cartoons movement, a global platform for cartoons and comics.

“A comic book is a story told through images. It requires several techniques, a lot of know-how,” says Ndarama. “This project aims to provide our artists with the knowledge to help them produce quality work,” he explains. “We want them to be competitive on the international market,” he shows his ambition.
“Between October and November, we will organize a festival where several works will be presented to the public,” he announces. “This action will be an important opportunity to promote our artists and their work and a golden opportunity to market their products,” he reveals the merits of this event.

“In order to give everyone a chance, this online training is organized in three categories,” he says. “The first aims to raise the level of professional artists. The second brings together students from the Nyundo School of Art and those from University of Rwanda, Creative Design Department. While the third category concerns all those who have a talent in the art of cartoons and comic books,” he says.

The teaching is individual. All you need is an account on the website mountaincreative.rw. A username and password are created and you have access to audio-visual content.
This project was supported by the “Cultural and Creative Industry (CCI) recovery fund” of the Imbuto Foundation, the Office of the First Lady, in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Culture.
