The districts of Nyanza, Gisagara and Bugesera are coming out of lockdown The office of the Prime Minister (PM) announced this on Monday 29 March 2021.
A communiqué issued by the Prime Minister’s office on the new measures to fight against covid-19 announced the lifting of the lockdown in the districts of Nyanza and Gisagara in the Southern Province and Bugesera in the East.
Another new measure is the ban on traffic in six districts of the Southern Province from 7pm to 4am. These administrative entities are Huye, Nyanza, Ruhango, Gisagara, Nyaruguru and Nyamagabe. There are still many patients in this part of the south of the country. Most of them receive care at home.
For the rest of the country, activities stop at 8pm and enter a curfew set from 9pm until 4am.
For public transport, buses will not exceed 50% of their capacity. The last Council of Ministers held on 15 March had authorized buses not to exceed 75% of their capacity. This measure was difficult to put into practice and was not generally respected.
The health situation is getting better and better. The latest update dated 28 March shows 49 new infections throughout the republic. The capital Kigali, the most populous, has recorded only 4 new infections. 15 out of 30 districts have had no new cases of covid-19. And no deaths in the whole country while the number of critical patients is only seven.
The Prime Minister, Dr Edouard Ngirente, is asking the entire population to continue to respect the barrier measures to avoid a higher number of new cases of covid-19.
