The President of the Rwandan Senate, Dr. Augustin Iyamuremye, calls on young people to fight genocide ideology. This is on the occasion of the commemoration of the genocide perpetrated against the Tutsi in the Save sector, Gisagara district.
Social networks have become a means to spread genocidal ideology. The president of the Senate, Dr. Augustin Iyamuremye, calls on young people to stop this evil. They are wrong those who continue to propagate the ideology of genocide.
“There are still people who spread genocidal ideology on the internet, speaking in particular of the double genocide. And yet, before the international justice system, Jean Kambanda, the former Prime Minister of the genocidal government pleaded guilty and admitted to the facts,” said Dr. Augustin Iyamuremye, earlier this week, during the commemoration of the genocide against the Tutsi committed in the Save sector, Gisagara district.
While congratulating the RPF fighters who stopped the genocide, Dr. Iyamuremye reassured the survivors. “Genocide will never happen again in Rwanda,” he said.

According to Jerome Mbonirema, IBUKA’s representative in Gisagara District, during this 100-day period of remembrance of the victims of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi, cases of denial and genocidal ideologies are multiplying inside and outside the country. This distresses the survivors of the genocide, their families and relatives. They have given forgiveness and opted for a path of national unity and reconciliation.
“During this 100-day period, which is very painful for the survivors, the genocidal ideology is being amplified by the denialists. This undermines the national reconciliation and unity that we desire. The state must redouble its vigilance to prevent this criminal ideology from spreading,” said Mbonirema. He called on those who were not threatened during the genocide to provide any information that would help find the bodies of Tutsi massacred during the genocide. In this way, they will be buried with dignity.

The same appeal was made by the Mayor of Gisagara District, Jérôme Rutaburingonga. “The genocidal ideology was taught for a long time in this area of Save by dignitaries of the former regimes, originating from this region,” he said. “This is the case of Gitera, the author of the incendiary Bahutu settlement, the former president Theodore Sindikubwabo, the ex-FAR general Augustin Ndindiliyimana, the extremist journalist Kantano Habimana and many others,” he says. “This is why in order to rebuild our nation and restore unity, a lot of effort is needed to uproot this ideology that has been cemented for a long time in this region,” said Mayor Rutaburingoga. He added that forgiveness is the precious gift offered by the survivors of the genocide.
On the same occasion of commemoration of the genocide committed in the Save area, the remains of four bodies of genocide victims were buried at the Save memorial site. More than 3340 victims of the genocide perpetrated against the Tutsi are buried there. Wreaths of flowers were also laid there.
